Gabriela Beňačková

Debut 1970 (Prague, part of Natasha in War and Peace). She successfully sang in op. Janacek (Jenufa in the same name op. and a number of others), Smetana in Prague, the Vienna Opera. Use the part of Tatiana at the Bolshoi Theater and Covent Garden (1979). She sang the part of Marguerite in Boito’s Mephistopheles (1988, San Francisco). She performed in 1985 as Marguerite in Faust (Vienna Opera, dir. K. Russell). Since 1990 at the Metropolitan Opera (debut as Katya Kabanova in the op. Janacek of the same name, among other parts of Mimi, Rusalka in the eponymous op. Dvořák). She has sung in Zurich since 1992 (parts of Leonora in Fidelio, Madeleine in Andre Chenier, Ariadne in Ariadne auf Naxos by R. Strauss). In 1995 Spanish. the part of Senta in Wagner’s Flying Than a Dutchman (Venice). Of the recordings, we note the parts of Mazhenka in The Bartered Bride by Smetana (conducted by 3. Koshler, Suprafon), Leonora in Fidelio (conducted by Dokhnanyi, video, Pioneer).
