Mark Pekarsky is an outstanding Russian percussionist, teacher, musical and public figure, composer and conductor.

He graduated from the Musical and Pedagogical Institute. Gnessins in the class of percussion instruments by V.P. Shteiman. More than 50 years of active concert activity. From 1965 to 1990 he was a soloist with the Madrigal Early Music Ensemble of the Moscow Philharmonic. Since 1976, he has been the organizer and permanent leader of the Percussion Ensemble, the owner of an exclusive repertoire and a unique collection of percussion instruments.

Pekarsky is the author of articles and books about percussion instruments, the founder of the percussion ensemble class at the Faculty of Historical and Contemporary Musical Performance of the Moscow Conservatory, and also teaches at the Moscow Secondary Special Music School. Gnesins, conducts master classes and seminars in Russia and abroad. Member of the jury of international competitions (including the ARD Competition in Munich).

Pekarsky is the initiator of many unique projects in the field of various types of art, including the festivals Mark Pekarsky’s Impact Days, Musical Landscapes, In the Beginning Was Rhythm, Opus XX, and others. Laureate of the Russian Performing Arts Foundation, Honored Artist of Russia, Associate Professor.
