Gianni Raimondi
Debut 1947 (Bologna, part of the Duke). He sang here with success the part of Ernesto in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale (1948). From 1956 he performed at La Scala (debut as Alfred, with Callas as Violetta). With Callas he also performed in the opera Anna Boleyn (part of Richard Percy) in 1958. He sang on the world’s largest stages, including the Vienna Opera, Covent Garden, and the Colon Theatre. In 1965 he made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera as Edgar in Lucia di Lammermoor. Among the parties are also Alfred, Rudolph, Pinkerton, Pollio in “Norma”, Arthur in Bellini’s “Puritans” and others. He toured with La Scala in Moscow (1964, 1974). Among the recordings of the part of Edgar (dir. Abbado, Memories), Rudolf (dir. Karajan, Deutsche Grammophon), etc.
