She made her debut in 1982 in Florence (the part of Juliet in Bellini’s “Capulets and Montagues”). Since 1982 at La Scala (debut as Lucrezia Borgia in Donizetti’s opera of the same name, replacing Caballe). In 1983 she performed at the Arena di Verona festival (Liu’s part). Since 1986 at the Metropolitan Opera (debut in the title role in Romeo and Juliet by Gounod). She performed on the leading stages of the world. Among the best roles are Violetta, Amin in “Sleepwalker”, Mimi, Rosina. Among the performances of recent years is the part of Rosina (1996, Arena di Verona festival). Recordings include Margherita (dir. Rizzi, Teldec), Corinna in Rossini’s Journey to Reims (dir. Abbado, Deeutsche Grammophon).
