Since 1961 soloist of the Bolshoi Theater (1990-94 director of the opera). Among the parties are Sobinin in “Life for the Tsar”, Lensky, Prince, Radames, Faust and others. People’s Artist of the USSR (1982). Recordings include Vsevolod’s part in Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tale of the Invisible City of Kitezh and the Maiden Fevronia (conductor Svetlanov, CDM) and others.
