Emma Carelli
Italian singer (soprano). Debut in 1895 (Altamur, Mercadante’s The Vestal Virgin). Since 1899 at La Scala (debut as Desdemona in Toscanini’s performance). She sang with Caruso in La bohème (1900, part of Mimi). The first performer in Italy of the part of Tatiana (1900, the title part was played by E. Giraldoni). Carelli – participant in the premiere of Mascagni’s opera “Masks” (1901, Milan). She performed in the famous production of Boito’s Mephistopheles directed by Toscanini, with the participation of Chaliapin and Caruso (1901, La Scala, the part of Margherita). She sang on the biggest stages of the world. She performed in St. Petersburg (1906). In 1912-26 he directed the Costanzi theater in Rome. Other parts of Santuzza in Rural Honor include Tosca, Cio-Cio-san, title roles in the operas Elektra, Iris by Mascagni, and others. The singer died tragically in a road accident.
