Alexei Volodin is one of the brightest representatives of the Russian piano school. A virtuoso and a thinker, Alexey Volodin has his own performing style, in which there is no place for external effects; his playing is notable for its clarity, consistency in the manner of performing works of various styles and eras.

Alexei Volodin was born in 1977 in Leningrad. He started playing music quite late, at the age of 9. He studied with I. A. Chaklina, T. A. Zelikman and E. K. Virsaladze, in whose class he graduated from the Moscow State Conservatory and graduate school. In 2001 he continued his education at the Academy of Music on Lake Como (Italy).

The international career of the musician began to develop rapidly after winning the International Piano Competition. Geza Andes in Zurich (Switzerland) in 2003. The artist is a regular participant in international festivals in Russia (Moscow Easter, Stars of the White Nights and others), Germany, Italy, Latvia, France, Czech Republic, Portugal, Switzerland, the Netherlands. The first participant in the popular program “Artist of the Month” at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theater (2007). Since the 2006/2007 season, he has been a permanent guest soloist in Montpellier (France).

The pianist regularly performs in the most famous concert halls in the world: Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Tonhalle (Zurich), Lincoln Center (New York), Theater des Champs-Elysees (Paris), Palau de la Musica Catalana (Barcelona), Philharmonie (Berlin) , Alte Oper (Frankfurt), Herculesaal (Munich), Konzerthaus (Vienna), La Scala (Milan), Sydney Opera House (Sydney, Australia), Suntory Hall (Tokyo) and others.

Alexei Volodin collaborates with famous orchestras of the world under the baton of such conductors as V. Gergiev, V. Fedoseev, M. Pletnev, V. Sinaisky, L. Maazel, R. Chaily, D. Zinman, G. Albrecht, K. Rizzi and many others others.

The artist’s recordings were released by Live Classics (Germany) and ABC Classics (Australia).

The musician combines concert and teaching activities. He is an assistant to Professor Eliso Virsaladze at the Moscow Conservatory.
