ital. tremolo, lit. – trembling

Multiple rapid repetition of one sound, interval or chord, as well as the alternation of two sounds located at a distance of at least a minor third, or parts of a “decomposed” chord. T. can be performed on fp., strings., duh. and punch instruments. In symph. and opera music uses orc. T., in which groups of instruments participate. In fp. music liter-re T. is found in opera claviers and arrangements of orc. plays, less often – in solo compositions.

A repeated sound or chord is recorded in the total duration of all repetitions. The speed of execution of T. is indicated with the help of ribs or bindings.
