Debut 1886 (Paris, Grand Opera, part of the Comte de Saint-Bris in Meyerbeer’s Les Huguenots). For more than 30 years (until 1927) he was a soloist of this theater. Participated in 1st productions of a number of Wagner operas on the French stage, including The Nuremberg Meistersingers, Tristan and Isolde, Der Ring des Nibelungen, Parsifal (respectively, the parts of Hans Sachs, King Mark, Wotan and Hagen, Gurnemanz). He was the first to perform the part of Athanael in Massenet’s opera Thais (1894), as well as a number of other parts in operas by French composers.
