Debut 1954 (Munich). At first he sang parts of buffoon basses. Soloist of the Opera House in Cologne in 1964-90. He also performed in Vienna, Düsseldorf-Duisburg, etc. Participated in the world premiere of B. Zimmermann’s opera “Soldiers” (1965). In 1976 he performed the part of Count Almaviva at the Salzburg Festival. Repeatedly performed at the Vienna Opera (the part of Don Giovanni, etc.). He sang the part of Don Alfonso in “That’s the way everyone does it” (1993, Catania). Recordings include the part of Don Alfonso (LD, dir. Gardiner, Archiv Produktion) and others.
