Debut 1954 (Verona, part of Ramfis in Aida). He performed mainly in the Italian operatic repertoire. In 1969 he made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera. Among the parts of Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro, Sparafucile in Rigoletto, Alvise in Ponchielli’s Gioconda and others. The husband of the singer Cossotto, with whom he made a number of recordings.
