Chamber Choir of the Moscow Conservatory
The Chamber Choir of the Moscow Conservatory was created on the initiative of Professor A. S. Sokolov in December 1994 by the outstanding choir conductor of our time – People’s Artist of Russia, Professor Boris Grigorievich Tevlin (1931-2012), who led the choir until the last days of his life. Laureate of the “Grand Prix” and winner of two gold medals at the International Choir Competition in Riva del Garda (Italy, 1998); laureate of the 1999st prize and the owner of the Gold Medal of the 2000st International Competition of Choirs. Brahms in Wernigerode (Germany, 2003); winner of the I World Choir Olympiad in Linz (Austria, XNUMX); winner of the “Grand Prix” XXII International Competition of Orthodox Church Music “Hajnówka” (Poland, XNUMX).
Choir tour geography: Russia, Austria, Germany, Italy, China, Poland, USA, Ukraine, France, Switzerland, Japan.

The choir’s repertoire includes: S. Taneyev “12 choirs to the verses of Y. Polonsky”, D. Shostakovich “Ten poems to the words of revolutionary poets”, R. Ledenev “Ten choirs to the verses of Russian poets” (world premiere); the first performance in Russia of the choral cycles by S. Gubaidulina “Now there is always snow”, “Dedication to Marina Tsvetaeva”, A. Lurie “Into the hollywood of the golden dream”; choral works by J. Tavener, K. Penderetsky.
The Chamber Choir took part in concert performances of the following operas: Orpheus and Eurydice by K. Gluck, Don Giovanni by W. A. Mozart, Cinderella by G. Rossini (conductor T. Currentzis); E. Grieg “Peer Gynt” (conductor V. Fedoseev); S. Rachmaninov “Aleko”, “Francesca da Rimini”, N. Rimsky-Korsakov “May Night”, V.A. Mozart’s The Magic Flute (conductor M. Pletnev), G. Kancheli’s Styx (conductors J. Kakhidze, V. Gergiev, A. Sladkovsky, V. Ponkin).

The choir’s discography includes works by P. Tchaikovsky, S. Rachmaninov, D. Shostakovich, A. Schnittke, S. Gubaidulina, R. Ledenev, R. Shchedrin, K. Penderetsky, J. Tavener; programs of Russian sacred music; works by American composers; “Favorite songs of the Great Patriotic War”, etc.
In 2008, the Chamber Choir’s recording of R. Shchedrin’s Russian choral opera “Boyarynya Morozova” conducted by B. G. Tevlin was awarded the prestigious “Echo klassik-2008” award in the category “Best opera performance of the year”, nomination “Opera of the XX-XXI century” .
Since August 2012, the artistic director of the Chamber Choir of the Moscow Conservatory is the closest associate of Professor B. G. Tevlin, laureate of an international competition, associate professor of the Department of Contemporary Choral Performing Arts of the Moscow Conservatory Alexander Solovyov.
