Where to buy a piano and how much does it cost?

If your child starts studying at a music school, then it’s time to think about purchasing a good musical instrument. From this article you will learn the answers to the following questions: where to buy a piano and how much a piano costs.

Nowadays, it’s rare for anyone to buy an acoustic piano for home; preference is increasingly given to digital analogues, especially for those who master playing the piano not as their main specialty, but as an additional instrument or simply at the amateur level. This is neither bad nor good; digital pianos and grand pianos, in addition to their compactness, lightness and other conveniences (for example, they do not disturb neighbors), also have a number of their own advantages for teaching music (read more about this in the next article).

However, if your child starts studying piano at a music school, and you want him to achieve success in this area, then you will still have to buy an acoustic piano (preferably a grand piano) for home. In this regard, a number of problematic questions inevitably arise, for example: how to choose a piano, where to buy it, and how much it will all cost. Let’s look at all these questions in order.

Where to buy a piano

Usually a piano is purchased in one of these 4 ways:

–   – the advantages of this method are obvious: you know, see and can touch what you are buying, and you are buying a completely new tool, plus you receive warranty service for a certain period;

–   – this is suitable for you if you intend to purchase an instrument of a strictly specific brand (in this case, it is also advisable that a dealer representative from the manufacturer of a piano of this brand work in your city);

– (usually engaged in the restoration of instruments) – this is not the best option (there are a lot of pitfalls), unless the center directly cooperates with one of the piano factories, but, on the other hand, from them you can also get an instrument in excellent condition and a warranty customer service as a nice bonus;

–  to repurchase an instrument is the most common and cheapest method, but here you must understand that the instrument you choose will not be new and its acquisition will remain your personal risk (of course, it will not give you any guarantees).

How much does a piano cost?

Now let’s move on to the question of what is the price of a piano. There are a number of general attitudes here: new instruments are more expensive than old ones (unless, of course, they are antiques, but you are not going to buy antiques for use), branded pianos are more expensive than simple factory instruments, imported instruments are more expensive than domestic ones. Now let’s go through the same points that we considered when we were looking for where to buy a piano. So, if you buy a tool:

–   – prices for pianos are usually the same (a fairly reasonable price for a new instrument of normal quality), almost exclusively foreign brands are sold;

– – the variety of prices and possibilities knows no bounds, the range of prices is rubles;

–  – you buy, it’s enough, because this is how expensive brand pianos are sold out;

–  – most often, you should understand that you are buying, although restored, but still not a new instrument, but with warranty service;

–  – sell  (the owners, thinking about what to do with the piano that takes up space in the apartment, are often ready to give it away for free for pickup), and – a special article (on average).

And finally, about brands. The cheapest and still most common are Soviet pianos from the 70-80s “Red October”, “Gamma”, “Elegy” (these are good ones), the most expensive are American Steinway&Sons and German Bluthner, not very expensive good imported pianos are Czech Petroff.
