Russian singer (bass). From 1894 he performed in private entreprises, from 1898 he was a soloist at the Mariinsky Theatre. The repertoire includes roles from Wagner’s operas (Wotan in Der Ring des Nibelungen, King Mark in Tristan and Isolde, etc.), Sobakin in The Tsar’s Bride, Ruslan, Susanin, Melnik. Kastorsky is a participant in the 1st Russian historical concert at the Grand Opera, organized as part of the Russian Seasons in Paris (1907, Ruslan’s part). He sang the part of Pimen in the Paris premiere of Boris Godunov (1908). Kastorsky is the organizer of the vocal quartet, with whom he performed throughout Russia, promoting Russian folk songs. During the Soviet period, he continued to perform on stage in Leningrad. Conducted teaching activities.
