She performed in Boston in an operetta (since 1890). From 1893 she lived in Europe. Debut 1894 (Cologne, Azucena part). Possessing a voice of great range, she also performed mezzo parts. She sang at the Bayreuth Festival in 1896, in Covent Garden (1903, Sieglinde’s part in Valkyrie). Soloist of the Metropolitan Opera in 1903-1914 (debut as Sieglinde). Among other roles of Kundry in Parsifal, Salome (1907, the first performer on the American stage), Carmen, the title role in Gluck’s Armida (1, together with Caruso). Was one of the leading Wagnerian singers of the beginning of the century. After 1910 she was a teacher.
