Conductor, Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1957), laureate of the Stalin Prize (1951).

In 1930 he graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory in piano (a student of N. Richter, L. Nikolaev), in 1929-34 he was an accompanist, in 1934-41 he was a conductor of the orchestra of the Maly Opera Theater, in 1941-60 – of the Theater. Kirov.

Feldt, like the conductor of the Bolshoi Theater of the USSR Yu. Fayer, is a unique phenomenon in the Soviet ballet theater. He perfectly mastered the entire arsenal of conducting art and deeply understood the specifics of choreography. Knowing well the technique of dance, he accurately and soulfully reproduced the musical and figurative content and stylistic features of the works.

Under Feldt’s direction and management, more than 20 new ballet performances were staged and performed in both theaters, including Ashik-Kerib, Gayane, Cinderella, The Prisoner of the Caucasus, The Bright Stream, The Tale of the priest and his worker Balda”, “Spartak”, “Taras Bulba” (2nd edition), “Shural”, etc.

He is the author of musical inserts in the ballet “Katerina”, additions and arrangements in the ballet “Vain Precaution”, orchestration of the ballets “Wonderful Veil”; “Dream” by E. Glebov, musical version of the ballet “Fadetta”, etc.
