Maxim Emelianychev is a bright representative of the young generation of Russian conductors. Born in 1988 in a family of musicians. He graduated from the Nizhny Novgorod Music College named after M. A. Balakirev and the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. He studied conducting with Alexander Skulsky and Gennady Rozhdestvensky.

He successfully performs as a soloist, playing the harpsichord, hammerklavier, piano and cornet, often combining conductor and solo roles.

Laureate of many international competitions, including the Bülow Piano Conducting Competition (Germany), the harpsichord competitions in Bruges (Belgium) and the Volkonsky Competition (Moscow). In 2013 he was awarded the special prize of the Russian National Theater Award “Golden Mask” (for his performance of the hammerklavier part in the Perm production of Mozart’s opera “The Marriage of Figaro”, conductor Teodor Currentzis).

Maxim first stood at the conductor’s stand at the age of 12. Today he performs with many famous symphonic, chamber and baroque ensembles. Currently he is Principal Conductor of the Il Pomo d’Oro Baroque Orchestra (since 2016) and Principal Conductor of the Nizhny Novgorod Youth Symphony Orchestra. Collaborates with such well-known artists as Riccardo Minazi, Max Emanuel Cencic, Javier Sabata, Yulia Lezhneva, Franco Fagioli, Marie-Nicole Lemieux, Sophie Kartheuser, Dmitry Sinkovsky, Alexei Lyubimov, Teodor Currentzis, Patricia Ciofi, Joyce Didonato, Katya and Mariel Labeque , Stephen Hough, Richard Good.

In 2016-17 Orchestra Il Pomo d’Oro and Maxim Emelyanychev took part in a large-scale tour of Europe and the United States in support of the solo album “In War and Peace” by the famous singer Joyce Didonato, released on Warner Classics and awarded the GRAMOPHONE award. The conductor made his debut at the Zurich Opera in Mozart’s The Abduction from the Seraglio and made his first appearance with the National Orchestra of the Capitole of Toulouse.

In the 2018-19 season, Maxim Emelyanychev continues his collaboration with the National Orchestra of the Capitole of Toulouse and the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville. His concerts are held with the Orchester National de Lyon, the Wehrli Symphony Orchestra of Milan, the Orchester National de Belgium, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the Orchester National de Bordeaux, the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He will make his debut with the Orchestra of Italian Switzerland in Lugano.

In the 2019-20 season, Maxim Emelyanychev will take up the position of Principal Conductor of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. He will perform with the Enlightenment Orchestra at the Glyndebourne Festival (Handel’s Rinaldo) and at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden (Handel’s Agrippina). The conductor will once again collaborate with the Toulouse Capitole National Orchestra, the Orchester d’Italia Switzerland and the Liverpool Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He will also give concerts with orchestras from Antwerp, Seattle, Tokyo, Seville, St. Petersburg.

In 2018, Maxim Emelyanychev recorded two CDs on the Aparté Record Label/Tribeca label. A solo album with Mozart’s sonatas, released received the prestigious CHOC DE CLASSICA award. Another work – a disc with Beethoven’s “Heroic” symphony and Brahms’s “Variations on a Theme of Haydn” was recorded with the Nizhny Novgorod Chamber Orchestra.
