Elena Nicholas

Lived in Italy. She made her debut at the Rome Opera as Maddalena in Rigoletto. From 1938 she sang in Naples. Since 1941 at La Scala (debut as the Princess of Bouillon in Cilea’s Adriana Lecouvreur). Since 1946, she sang for several years at the Arena di Verona festival (parts of Amneris, Laura in Ponchielli’s Gioconda, Ortrud in Lohengrin). She toured in South America, the Grand Opera, etc. Among the recordings is the part of Eboli (conducted by Santini, EMI).
