Italian singer (baritone). Debut 1852 (Rome, part of Belcore in L’elisir d’amore). Since 1860 at La Scala. In 1867-89 he performed at Covent Garden (he made his debut as Valentine in Faust). In 1867 he performed as Rodrigo in the Italian premiere of Don Carlos (Bologna). In 1872-94 he sang every year with the Italian opera troupe in St. Petersburg. 1st performer in Russia of the part of Miller in the opera Louise Miller by Verdi (1874). Among the parties are also Pollio in Norma, Barnabas in Gioconda by Ponchielli, Escamillo, Renato in Un ballo in maschera, Wilgel Tell, Figaro and others. Leaving the stage in 1894, he was engaged in teaching work in St. Volpi, Battistini, J. Reshke).
