Russian conductor, conductor of the Bolshoi Theatre, laureate of the Golden Mask award (2014, 2015, 2017, 2019), associate professor at the Moscow Conservatory, Honored Artist of Russia.

In 2000 he graduated from the Moscow State Conservatory (MGK) named after. P.I. Tchaikovsky in the specialties “choral conducting” (class of Professor Boris Tevlin) and “opera and symphony conducting” (class of Professor Mark Ermler). In 1999, being a fourth-year student, he became a trainee conductor at the Bolshoi Theatre. In 2002 he completed his postgraduate studies at the Moscow Conservatory. Since 2009, associate professor at the Moscow Conservatory.

In 2001, after touring with the Bolshoi Theater Orchestra in the United States, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, then artistic director of the Bolshoi Theater, invited him to become a staff conductor. Subsequently, more than forty works were performed at the Bolshoi Theater under his direction, including the opera Prince Igor by A. Borodin, The Snow Maiden, The Tsar’s Bride and The Golden Cockerel by N. Rimsky-Korsakov, Iolanta and Eugene Onegin » P. Tchaikovsky, “La Traviata” by G. Verdi, “La Boheme” and “Tosca” by G. Puccini, “Fiery Angel” by S. Prokofiev.

His repertoire also includes almost all the ballets that have been staged at the Bolshoi in the past twenty years, including Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker by P. Tchaikovsky, Raymond by A. Glazunov, The Golden Age, “Bolt” and “Bright Stream” by D. Shostakovich “Romeo and Juliet” by S. Prokofiev and “Ivan the Terrible” to music by S. Prokofiev, ballets to music by J. Bizet, L. van Beethoven, G. Mahler, V. A. Mozart and other composers.

Under his direction, fourteen ballet performances premiered at the Bolshoi Theatre, among the recent ones – The Rite of Spring by I. Stravinsky (2013), Variations on a Theme of Frank Bridge to the music of B. Britten, “Together for a short time” to the music of M. Richter and L. van Beethoven “Symphony of Psalms” to music by I. Stravinsky, “Ondine” by H. W. Henze and “The Golden Age” by D. Shostakovich (all in 2016), “Petrushka” by I. Stravinsky (2018 .).

With the opera, ballet and orchestra of the Bolshoi Theater, the maestro has performed on many famous theater stages and concert venues, including La Scala in Milan, the New York Metropolitan Opera, the Royal Theater of Covent Garden, the Center for the Performing Arts. John F. Kennedy (Washington, USA), the Paris National Opera (Palais Garnier), the Mariinsky Theatre, Bunka Kaikan (Tokyo) and the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing.

During the tour of the Bolshoi Theater he collaborated with the orchestra of the Bavarian State Opera, the orchestra of the Royal Theater in Turin / Teatro Regio di Torino, the National Symphony Orchestra of the Kennedy Center, the orchestra of the Royal Theater in Parma / Teatro Regio di Parma, the Orchestra Colonna (Paris) and many others. Has performed with the Symphony Orchestra of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia, the Taipei Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Academy of the West (California), academic orchestras of St. Petersburg, Saratov and Rostov-on-Don.

From 2004 to 2008, he collaborated with Elena Obraztsova and the competition for young opera singers founded by her.

In the 2005/07 season, he was Principal Guest Conductor of the Universal Ballet Company (South Korea).

From 2010 to 2015 he was Principal Conductor of the Yekaterinburg State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. During his work in this theater, he acted as a conductor-producer of opera and ballet performances, including “The Tsar’s Bride” by N. Rimsky-Korsakov, “The Love for Three Oranges” by S. Prokofiev, “Count Ory” by G. Rossini, “Otello” and “Rigoletto” by G. Verdi, “Amore Buffo” to the music of G. Donizetti, “Flourdelica” to the music of P. Tchaikovsky, A. Pyart and F. Poulenc. Almost every of his work in the Yekaterinburg Theater was marked by a nomination for the Golden Mask National Theater Award.

In 2014-18 was a guest conductor at the Mikhailovsky Theater in St. Petersburg.

In 2019 he was appointed Principal Conductor of the Sofia Opera and Ballet Theatre.

Recordings include: CD with Bolshoi Chamber Orchestra (Universal Music Group), DVD Spartacus (Bolshoi Ballet, Column Orchestra, Decсa, Paris).

AWARDS:

In 2014, he won the Golden Mask award in the nomination “Best Conductor in Ballet” for the play “Cantus Arcticus/Songs of the Arctic” to music by E. Rautavaar.

In 2015 he was awarded the “Golden Mask” in the same nomination for the performance “Flowermaker”.

In the 2015/2016 season, three of the conductor’s works were nominated for the Golden Mask award at once: Romeo and Juliet (Ekaterinburg Opera and Ballet Theatre), Ondine and Variations on a Theme by Frank Bridge (Bolshoi Theatre).

In 2017, he won the Golden Mask award in the nomination “Best Conductor in Ballet” for the performance “Ondine” by H.V. Henze.

In 2018, he received the Soul of Dance prize established by the Ballet magazine (the Magic of Dance nomination).

In 2019 he was awarded the Golden Mask award in the same category for the play Romeo and Juliet (staged by A. Ratmansky).

In 2021 he received the title of Honored Artist of Russia.
