Austrian composer close to the circle of the Viennese school. He was the author of comic operas, among which stands out The Doctor and the Apothecary (1786, Vienna, libretto by M. Stefani, who was the author of the libretto for the opera The Abduction from the Seraglio by Mozart). This Singspiel played an important role in the history of the Austro-German musical theater, having a significant impact on the work of Lorzing and the Wagner opera Die Meistersinger Nürnberg.
