Alena Baeva is one of the brightest young talents of modern violin art, who in a short time has achieved public and critical acclaim both in Russia and abroad.
A. Baeva was born in 1985 in a family of musicians. She started playing the violin at the age of five in Alma-Ata (Kazakhstan), the first teacher was O. Danilova. Then she studied in the class of the People’s Artist of the USSR, Professor E. Grach at the Central Music School at the Moscow State Conservatory. P.I. Tchaikovsky (since 1995), then at the Moscow Conservatory (2002-2007). At the invitation of M. Rostropovich, in 2003 she completed an internship in France. As part of the master classes, she studied with maestro Rostropovich, the legendary I. Handel, Sh. Mints, B. Garlitsky, M. Vengerov.
Since 1994, Alena Baeva has repeatedly become a laureate of prestigious Russian and international competitions. At the age of 12, she was awarded the first prize and a special prize for the best performance of a virtuoso piece at the 1997th International Youth Violin Competition in Kloster-Schoental (Germany, 2000). In 2001, at the International Tadeusz Wronski Competition in Warsaw, being the youngest participant, she won first prize and special prizes for the best performance of works by Bach and Bartok. In 9, at the XII International G. Wieniawski Competition in Poznan (Poland), she won the first prize, a gold medal and XNUMX special prizes, including the prize for the best performance of a work by a contemporary composer.
In 2004, A. Baeva was awarded the Grand Prix at the II Moscow Violin Competition. Paganini and the right to play for a year one of the best violins in history – the unique Stradivari, which once belonged to G. Venyavsky. In 2005 she became a laureate of the Queen Elizabeth Competition in Brussels, in 2007 she was awarded a gold medal and an audience award at the III International Violin Competition in Sendai (Japan). In the same year, Alena was awarded the Triumph Youth Prize.
The young violinist is a welcome guest on the best stages of the world, including the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Great Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the Suntory Hall (Tokyo), the Verdi Hall (Milan), the Louvre Concert Hall, the Gaveau Hall, the Théâtre des Champs Elysées, UNESCO and the Theater de la Ville (Paris), the Palace of Fine Arts (Brussels), Carnegie Hall (New York), Victoria Hall (Geneva), Herkules-Halle (Munich), etc. Actively gives concerts in Russia and neighboring countries, as well as in Austria, UK, Germany, Greece, Italy, Slovakia, Slovenia, France, Switzerland, USA, Brazil, Israel, China, Turkey, Japan.
A. Baeva constantly performs with well-known symphony and chamber ensembles, including: the Tchaikovsky Grand Symphony Orchestra, the E.F. Svetlanov State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia, the Moscow Philharmonic Academic Symphony Orchestra, the New Russia State Symphony Orchestra , the Moscow State Academic Symphony Orchestra conducted by Pavel Kogan, the orchestras of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the Deutsche Radio, the Danish Royal Opera, the Orchestra of the Liszt Academy, the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow Soloists Chamber Ensemble and other ensembles conducted by such famous conductors such as Y. Bashmet, P. Berglund, M. Gorenstein, T. Zanderling, V. Ziva, P. Kogan, A. Lazarev, K. Mazur, N. Marriner, K. Orbelyan, V. Polyansky, G. The violinist pays great attention to chamber music. Among her ensemble partners are Y. Bashmet, A. Buzlov, E. Virsaladze, I. Golan, A. Knyazev, A. Melnikov, Sh. Mints, Y. Rakhlin, D. Sitkovetsky, V. Kholodenko.
Alena Baeva is a participant in such prestigious Russian festivals as December Evenings, Stars in the Kremlin, Musical Kremlin, Stars of the White Nights, Ars Longa, Musical Olympus, Dedication at the State Tretyakov Gallery, Days Mozart in Moscow”, Y. Bashmet Festival in Sochi, the All-Russian project “Generation of Stars”, the program of the Moscow Philharmonic Society “Stars of the XXI century”. He regularly performs at festivals around the world: Virtuosos of the XNUMXst Century and Ravinia (USA), Seiji Ozawa Academy (Switzerland), Violin at the Louvre, Juventus, festivals in Tours and Menton (France) and many others in Austria, Greece, Brazil, Turkey, Israel, Shanghai, CIS countries.
Has a number of stock recordings on radio and television in Russia, USA, Portugal, Israel, Poland, Germany, Belgium, Japan. The artist’s concerts were broadcast by the Kultura TV channel, TV Center, Mezzo, Arte, as well as Russian radio stations, WQXR radio in New York and BBC radio.
A. Baeva has recorded 5 CDs: concerts No. 1 by M. Bruch and No. 1 by D. Shostakovich with the Russian National Orchestra conducted by P. Berglund (Pentatone Classics / Fund for Investment Programs), concerts by K. Shimanovsky (DUX), sonatas by F. Poulenc, S. Prokofiev, C. Debussy with V. Kholodenko (SIMC), solo disc (Japan, 2008), for the recording of which the Investment Programs Fund provided a unique violin “Ex-Paganini” by Carlo Bergonzi. In 2009, the Swiss Orpheum Foundation released a disc with a recording of A. Baeva’s concert in Tonhalle (Zurich), where she performed S. Prokofiev’s First Concerto with the P. I. Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra conducted by V. Fedoseev.
Alena Baeva currently plays the Antonio Stradivari violin, provided by the State Collection of Unique Musical Instruments.
