Alain Vanzo

Debut 1954 (Paris, Grand Opera, where he performed minor parts). Performed with sensational success in the same place in 1957 (part of Edgar in “Lucia di Lammermoor” in a play with Callas in the title role). He sang on the biggest stages of the world. He has performed at the Metropolitan Opera since 1973 (faust and others). In 1985 Spanish. at the Grand Opera, the title role in Meyerbeer’s Robert the Devil. The repertoire includes mainly French opera classics (Thomas, Gounod, Bizet, Massenet, Offenbach). Among the parties are Wilhelm in the opera Mignon, Nadir in Bizet’s The Pearl Seekers, Gerald in Lakma. Among the recordings, we note the part of Ulysses in the opera “Penelope” by Fauré (conducted by Duthoit, in the title role of Norman, Erato).
