Vladislav Lavrik
Russian trumpeter and conductor Vladislav Lavrik was born in Zaporozhye in 1980. In 2003 he graduated from the Moscow State P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory (class of Professor Yuri Usov, later Associate Professor Yuri Vlasenko), and then postgraduate studies. At the end of his second year at the conservatory, the musician was invited to the Russian National Orchestra and in 2001, at the age of 20, he took the place of concertmaster of the trumpet group. Since 2009, Vladislav Lavrik has been combining his solo career and work in an orchestra with conducting activities. Vladislav Lavrik is a laureate of several international competitions.
The musician performs all over the world with solo programs, as well as with famous orchestras and conductors, including Mikhail Pletnev, Alexander Vedernikov, Alexander Sladkovsky, Yuri Bashmet, Konstantin Orbelyan, Maxim Shostakovich, Carlo Ponti, Dmitry Liss. Many modern composers entrusted him with the first performance of their works for trumpet. As a soloist, V. Lavrik appears on the best stages of the world, takes part in various festivals in Russia and abroad. Among them: Europalia in Brussels, WCU Trumpetfestival in the USA, International Conservatory Week in St. Petersburg, Stars on Baikal in Irkutsk, Crescendo, RNO Grand Festival, Return. Vladislav Lavrik is a Yamaha artist in Russia.
In 2005, on the basis of the Russian National Orchestra, the performer organized a brass quintet and became its artistic director. The ensemble successfully tours at the leading venues in Russia and abroad.
Since 2008, the musician has been teaching at the Moscow Conservatory and regularly holds master classes. In 2011, he spoke at the annual conference of the International Trumpet Guild (ITG), after which he was invited to the board of directors of the guild as a representative of Russia.
As a conductor, Vladislav Lavrik has worked with leading Russian orchestras: the Russian National Orchestra, the State Orchestra of Russia named after E.F. Svetlanov, the State Symphony Orchestra “New Russia”, the Symphony Orchestra of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Moscow Chamber Orchestra Musica Viva, the State Chamber Orchestra of the Samara Philharmonic, State Symphony Orchestra of Udmurtia and others. In 2013, as a conductor and soloist, he took part in productions of the musical performance for children “Cats of the Hermitage” to the music of Chris Brubeck. Performances were held at the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC and at the theater of the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. In July 2015, he took over the RNO console on tour in South Korea, Hong Kong and Japan, where Mikhail Pletnev performed as a soloist.
The musician’s recordings have been released to radio and CD. Among them is a recording of Shostakovich’s First Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, made jointly with Vladimir Krainev under the baton of Maxim Shostakovich. In 2011, the trumpeter’s solo album “Reflection” was released, recorded with the orchestra of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
In March 2016, by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladislav Lavrik was awarded the Prize of the President of the Russian Federation for young cultural figures for 2015 – for his contribution to the development of traditions and the popularization of wind art.
In August 2016, Vladislav Lavrik was appointed Principal Conductor of the Chamber Orchestra of the Orenburg Philharmonic.
