Simon Rattle

He has been performing since 1975. Since 1977 he has repeatedly participated in the Glyndebourne Festival. He performed here the operas The Adventures of the Cunning Fox by Janáček (1977), Mozart’s Idomeneo (1985), Porgy and Bess (1986), Don Giovanni (1994). He performed at the English National Opera (1985, Katya Kabanova by Janacek). In 1988 he made his debut in the USA (Los Angeles, Berg’s Wozzeck). In 1993, he performed for the first time at Covent Garden (“The Adventures of the Cunning Fox”). Has performed with orchestras in Birmingham, Rotterdam and Berlin. In 1997 he performed the opera Parsifal in Amsterdam. Recordings include Porgy and Bess (LD, EMI) and others. Since 2002, he has been Principal Conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
