Debut 1928 (Ascona, part of Siebel in Faust). Since 1932 at the Metropolitan Opera (debut as Laura in Ponchielli’s Gioconda). She first performed there in 1935 in the soprano part (Leonora in Il trovatore). She sang in Covent Garden from 1937 (Amneris and other parties). Member of the recording op. Fidelio by Toscanini on NBC (1944 part of Leonora, RCA). In the 40s. Bampton successfully performed in Wagnerian roles (Sieglinde in Valkyrie, Elsa in Lohengrin, etc.). Among the parties are also Madeleine in “Andre Chenier”, Marshall in “The Rosenkavalier” and others. She sang repeatedly in Chicago, Buenos Aires. Recordings include the part of Donna Anna (dir. Walter, Memories).
