She made her debut in 1950 in Mulhouse (the part of Elsa in Lohengrin). Since 1951, she sang at the Opéra Comique and the Grand Opera (among the best roles of Rezia in Weber’s Oberon).

One of the best French singers of the Wagner repertoire. In 1958-61 she performed at the Bayreuth Festival (parts of Kundry in Parsifal, Sieglinde in Valkyrie, etc.).

She performed with success at the Glyndebourne Festival in 1959 (as the Marshall in Der Rosenkavalier). Since 1962 at the Metropolitan Opera (debut as Marshalli). One of the best roles in this theater is Carmen (1975). Since 1977 she sang mezzo-soprano parts.

Among the recordings are the title role in the opera “Iphigenia in Tauride” by Gluck (dir. J. Sebastien, Le Chant du Monde), the part by Marchalchi (dir. Solti, Decca).
