Alexei Filippovich Krivchenia |

Ukrainian bass. He made his debut in 1938 (Dnepropetrovsk). He sang in Ukrainian theaters, during the war in Krasnoyarsk, in 1945-49 in Novosibirsk. Soloist of the Bolshoi Theater since 1949 (debut as Melnik). One of the best performers of the part of Ivan Khovansky (starred in this role in the film “Khovanshchina”, 1959).

Other parties include Ivan Susanin, Gremin, Basilio. The first performer of the part of the Commissar in Prokofiev’s Tale of a Real Man (1960), etc. Among the recordings of the part of Ivan Khovansky (dir. Khaikin), Kutuzov in War and Peace (dir. Melik-Pashaev, all Melodiya).
