Was born in Moscow. In 2002 she graduated from the State Musical and Pedagogical Institute. MM. Ippolitova-Ivanova (teachers P. Tarasov and I. Shapar). In 1996-98, while still a student, she performed at the Moscow Novaya Opera Theater under the direction of E.V. Kolobov. Verdi’s Il trovatore at the Zurich Opera, Amelia in G. Verdi’s Simone Boccanegra at Covent Garden, Michaela in G. Bizet’s Carmen at the Liceo Theater in Barcelona. In 2011, she performed as Martha in the first production of Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera The Tsar’s Bride in Covent Garden’s history, and as Marguerite (Ch. Gounod’s Faust) at the Metropolitan Opera. In 2011, the DVD recording of the opera Don Carlos with the participation of Marina Poplavskaya and Rolando Villazon received the prestigious British Gramophone magazine award.
