Maxim Dmitrievich Shostakovich |

Born May 10, 1938 in Leningrad in the family of composer Dmitry Shostakovich. He graduated from the Central Music School at the Leningrad Conservatory and the piano department of the Moscow Conservatory. Since 1964, he worked as an assistant to conductor Veronika Dudarova at the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra. Since 1965 he was an assistant to Evgeny Svetlanov in the State Symphony Orchestra of the USSR. Since 1967, he led the Symphony Orchestra of the Central Television and All-Union Radio. In 1981 he emigrated to the USA, toured around the world. In 1994, for the first time after a long break, he performed in Russia with the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic. Since 1997 he has been living in St. Petersburg with his family. The basis of the conductor’s repertoire is the symphonic heritage of his father.
