Born in the city of Kuznetsk, Penza Region, she was educated at the Gnessin Music College (1993) and the Moscow State University of Culture (1997). Winner of two gold medals in the category “Opera” of the First World Championship of Arts in Los Angeles (USA, 1996). Honored Artist of Russia.

The artist’s extensive operatic repertoire includes more than 40 roles, including almost all the leading roles for mezzo-soprano: Azucena, Amneris, Fenena, Mrs. Quickly (Il trovatore, Aida, Nabucco, Falstaff by G. Verdi), Carmen (Carmen by J. Bizet), Niklaus (Tales of Hoffmann by J. Offenbach), Countess, Olga (The Queen of Spades, Eugene Onegin by P. Tchaikovsky), Marina Mnishek (Boris Godunov by M. Mussorgsky) , Lyubasha, Amelfa (“The Tsar’s Bride”, “The Golden Cockerel” by N. Rimsky-Korsakov), Sonetka (“Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District” by D. Shostakovich), Madame de Croissy (“Dialogues of the Carmelites” by F. Poulenc) and other parts.

The bright and original creativity of L. Kostyuk is widely demanded in Russia and abroad. The singer tours a lot both as part of the theater troupe and as a guest soloist. She has performed in Austria, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Spain, Ireland, France, Sweden, USA, Canada, China, Lebanon, Israel. The singer has taken part in the Wexford Festival in Ireland, the KlangBogen Festival in Vienna (production of Tchaikovsky’s opera Iolanta, conductor Vladimir Fedoseev), the International Music Festival in Beirut, the Chaliapin Festival in Kazan, the M. D. Mikhailov Opera Festival in Cheboksary and others. She has performed on the stages of the best theaters in the world – the Bolshoi Theater of Russia, the Paris Opera Bastille, the Swedish Royal Opera, theaters in Vienna and Toronto.

The first performer of the main part in I. Bardanashvili’s mono-opera “Eva”. The play was awarded the National Theater Award “Golden Mask” in the category “Innovation” (1998/99).

In 2006, as part of the festival dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Rodion Shchedrin, she performed the title role in his opera Boyarynya Morozova. After the Moscow premiere, this performance was also shown at a festival in Italy. In 2009, Larisa Kostyuk sang the part of Empress Catherine the Great in D. Tukhmanov’s opera The Queen, which premiered at the Alexandrinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, and then performed at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow, in Krasnodar, Ufa and on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater.

Along with opera, the singer performs cantatas and oratorios, performs with solo programs.
