Kenneth Riegel
He has been performing since 1965. Since 1973 he has sung at the Metropolitan Opera (parts of David in Wagner’s Die Meistersingers at Nuremberg, Tamino, the title role in Offenbach’s Les Hoffmann). Riegel sang the part of Alva in the French premiere of Berg’s Lulu (1979), was a participant in the world premiere of Messiaen’s Francis of Assisi (1983, Paris). Since 1985 at Covent Garden (debut in the title role in Zemlinsky’s The Dwarf).
In 1991 he sang the role of Logue in the Rhine Gold at Covent Garden. In 1992 he sang Herod in Salome at the Salzburg Festival. He starred as Don Ottavio in the film Don Juan (1979, directed by D. Losey). Among the parts are also Nemorino, De Grieux in Manon, Fenton in Falstaff, Alfred and others. Among the recordings of the part of Alva in Lulu (dir. Boulez, Deutsche Grammophon), Herod (dir. Dohnany, Decca) and others.
