Debut 1838 (Stockholm, part of Agatha in The Free Shooter). After studying in Paris, she sang from 1844 in Berlin (when Meyerbeer worked there, who highly appreciated Lind’s talent). She performed at the Vienna Opera, Hannover, Dresden, England, USA (1847-49). Among the roles are Maria in the opera “Daughter of the Regiment”, Adina in “The Potion of Love” (both by Donizetti), Alice in “Robert the Devil” by Meyerbeer, Norm, Amin in “La Sonnambula” by Bellini. First performer of Amalia in Verdi’s The Robbers (1847). In 1849 she left the stage and gave concerts. Lind is one of the greatest singers of the 19th century. She was called the “Swedish Nightingale”.
