Debut 1901 (St. Petersburg, Mariinsky Theatre, part of the Indian Guest in Sadko). He performed at the Zimin Opera House (1907-08), at the Grand Opera (1908-10, 1912-14, here he sang the part of Samson in the presence of Saint-Saens). He performed in “Russian Seasons” (1914). The last years of his life he sang at the Bolshoi Theater and the Mariinsky Theatre. Among the best roles are Herman (1914/15), Don Giovanni in Dargomyzhsky’s The Stone Guest on the stage of the Mariinsky Theater (1917, dir. Meyerhold). Other parts include Sadko, Jose, Werther, Siegfried in The Death of the Gods.
