Hans Richter |

Debut 1870 (Brussels, Lohengrin). The largest specialist in Wagner’s work. From 1876 he worked in Bayreuth. 1st performer of the “Ring of the Nibelung” (1876). He was the conductor of the Vienna Opera from 1875 (in 1893-1900 he was the chief conductor). Staged Wagnerian operas at Covent Garden (1903-10). Conducted an orchestra in Manchester (1900-11). In 1912 he performed the opera Die Meistersinger at the Bayreuth Festival. 1st performer of a number of symphonies by I. Brahms and A. Bruckner.
