Nicola Rescigno |

He has been performing since 1943. He was chief conductor of the Chicago Opera (1954-56). In 1957-92 he was artistic director of the Dallas Opera House (USA). Under his leadership, the American debut of Callas (Chicago, Norma) took place in 1954. He performed repeatedly at the Metropolitan Opera (La Traviata, Love Potion) and other theaters in the United States. Among the last performances of the opera “Werther”, “Aida” (1990, Rome). Recordings include Lucia di Lammermoor (soloists Gruberova, Kraus, Bruzon, Lloyd, EMI), Tosca (soloists Freni, Pavarotti, Milnes, Decca).
