The scale, steps to-rogo form a sequence of whole tones; called also in whole tone.

The whole-tone scale unites the sounds of the system, which is sometimes conditionally referred to as an increased mode. For the first time in world music. lit-re “G. Ch.” used M. I. Glinka in the opera Ruslan and Lyudmila to characterize the image of Chernomor (hence the name of the scale). Following Glinka in the outline of Ch. arr. fantastic her characters were used by A. S. Dargomyzhsky (“The Stone Guest”), A. P. Borodin (“The Sleeping Princess”), H. A Rimsky-Korsakov and other Russian. and zarub. composers.
