Dutch singer (mezzo-soprano, then soprano). Debut 1875 (Turin, part of Leonora in Donizetti’s The Favorite). She sang in Kassel (1882-83) when Mahler worked there. She performed with the National Opera Company in Moscow and St. Petersburg (under the direction of A. Neumann), where she participated in the first production in Russia of “The Ring of the Nibelungen” (1). Among the best parts are also Orpheus in Orpheus and Eurydice by Gluck, Fides in Meyerbeer’s The Prophet, Azuchen, Amneris, Ortrud in Lohengrin, and others. After finishing her career, she taught.
