Among all this countless numbers, the main types of musical games can be distinguished: folk and modern. Next we will consider them in more detail.

Folk music games

This type of musical games is the most ancient, but no less popular than modern music-themed games. This type takes its origins from the time of the formation of the social system and the emergence of the first folk musical groups. Basically, such games can be found at various folk celebrations, at folklore and ethnographic performances of various ensembles. Absolutely all peoples of the world have this type, and there is practically no border between children’s and adult musical games.

In turn, folk musical games can be divided into two subtypes:

  • Outdoor musical games, based on the active actions of all participants in the game, united by one goal. Mostly held in open areas, in the fresh air. They are also divided into three types: games of high mobility, medium and small.
  • Musical games for attentiveness. The goal is to memorize some part of a song or melody, which will later need to be used to continue the game. This subtype is mainly performed without any activity; in rare cases, some parts of the body are minimally involved. Therefore, they can be carried out both indoors and outdoors during the warm season.

Like any game, musical folk games have certain rules that limit the action of the game. Victory is awarded to the player or team of players who, in accordance with the rules, completed all tasks faster or more accurately than anyone else.

Modern music games

As the name suggests, this type of music games is modern and widely used these days. It appeared relatively recently, thanks to developments in the education of preschool children and the growing popularity of corporate events. It can be divided into two subspecies:

  • Musical games for adults – mainly used at corporate parties. They can be either mobile or inactive. They are carried out mainly indoors – in cafes, restaurants or in the office. The main objectives of this type of game are entertainment and fun. Constant updating of music games for adults increases the popularity of this subspecies every day.
  • Children’s musical games, which have become an integral part of the educational process in preschool and school institutions, are aimed at developing creative and musical abilities. Also, this type of games is aimed at preserving and strengthening the psychological and physical health of children. They can be carried out both indoors and outdoors.

Modern music games also have rules, in the first case aimed at humorous results. And in the second, the rules implement certain tasks for the development of the child.

Any musical game stimulates creative, emotional, competitive and freely developing activity in a person. All of the above types of musical games are united by one property, which is aimed at obtaining positive emotions, both in the process of the game itself and in its results.
