Troparion and kontakion for the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary – notes of festive chants for voice chants

Troparion and kontakion for the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary - notes of festive chants for voice chantsWe continue to publish notes of everyday church chants for the holidays for those who independently prepare for services or participate in amateur choirs. For this issue we have prepared a troparion and kontakion for the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary – the upcoming holiday, which is celebrated on August 28.

The troparion for the holiday begins with the words “You preserved your virginity at Christmas” (the first “line”) and is sung in the 1st tone. The kontakion of the holiday “In prayers the never-sleeping Mother of God” is sung in the 2nd tone.

Attention! These details are emphasized here not out of stupidity and not because there is nothing to do, dear singers. If you have not yet learned the voices, then you simply need to memorize the first lines of the TOP troparions and kontakions with their melodies.

Now the notes themselves – as always, there are two options (one spare if something doesn’t work). Notes for a mixed choir in a normal, humane human tessitura, if you set the tone using a tuning fork, of course (some choir directors, you know, make mistakes – they will set the tone whatever they want (strangling the voices of the choristers), then the mixed choir will be given notes for the male).

So here are the notes:

Sheet music – Troparion to the Dormition, tone 1 (pdf file will open in a new folder)

Sheet music – Kontakion for the Dormition, tone 2 (will also open in a separate tab)

A backup option is the troparion and kontakion of the Dormition (saved on Yandex disk in one general archive).

We remind you that, whenever possible, we try to make our releases regular, since the statistics of downloads of materials have shown their high relevance. Previously, hymns for the holidays of the Nativity of Christ (troparion and kontakion, several famous carols), Easter (several versions of the troparion, stichera and exapostilary) and Transfiguration (troparion and kontakion) were published.

Finally, we would like to please you with a good video – this is a high-quality performance of the troparion to the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary by an ensemble of male voices:
