Symphony Orchestra of Defence Ministry of the Russian Federation

The Symphony Orchestra of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation was founded in 1990. The first concert programs were prepared in record time. Already in 1991-1992. The orchestra toured successfully in many cities of Russia and Germany, and then in North Korea, China and the USA.
Every year the creative activity of the orchestra becomes more and more multifaceted. On the basis of the symphony orchestra, a chamber orchestra, an ensemble of violinists and a string quartet are created.
The main activity of the orchestra is to provide musical support for socio-political, government and state events, holding concerts for military personnel and civilian personnel of the Armed Forces in concert halls, as well as performances in military units, military academies, military hospitals.
The extensive and varied repertoire of the orchestra includes both works by Russian and foreign classical composers, and compositions on military-patriotic themes.
Such outstanding musicians as T. Khrennikov and N. Petrov, masters of contemporary performing arts D. Matsuev, Yu. Rozum, A. Pakhmutova, I. Kobzon, R. Ibragimov, Kh. Gerzmava, T. Gverdtsiteli, Z. Sotkilava, V. Pikaizen, J. Carreras, M. Guleghina, S. Tarasov and many others.
The orchestra participates in cultural events in Moscow, in all-Russian competitions and festivals, in subscription concerts of the Moscow Philharmonic Society, performs in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, the Moscow International House of Music, the St. George and Alexander Halls of the Grand Kremlin Palace and many other concert venues in Russia.
In a relatively short period of existence, the Symphony Orchestra of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, under the leadership of the chief military conductor, People’s Artist of Russia, Lieutenant General Valery Khalilov, has gained a reputation as an ensemble in the interpretation of which classical and modern, Russian and foreign music sound individually, with special expression. The professionalism, inspiration and temperament of the performance invariably provide the orchestra with enthusiastic applause.
