As a boy he sang in the Sistine choir. chapel. Opera debut 1922 (Rome, part of Bartolo). Sang at La Scala (1926-40). In 1940-62 he was a soloist at the Metropolitan Opera (debut as Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro). This stage was performed by approx. 300 times. He also sang in Covent Garden, at the Glyndebourne Festival, in Buenos Aires (since 1931). Among the parties of Leporello, Don Pasquale in one. op.
