Reasons to become a guitarist in the digital age

In the age of rapidly developing technologies, when most of the hobbies of teenagers and young people are, one way or another, related to computers, in the era of drones and colliders it is quite difficult to find a hobby that does not come into contact with technology. But there is a pretty good way to break up such monotony. The name of this method is “playing the guitar.” Despite the fact that this instrument is not new at all, and it is quite difficult to surprise with its virtuosity, you should not ignore it.

So…

Why does it make sense for a young person to become a guitarist in the digital age?

Uniqueness – yes – yes, this is a pretty good reason to stand out from the huge amount of synthetic and “lifeless” electronic music. And although cloud rap today is more popular than the songs of Yanka Diaghileva and Yegor Letov, this is the beauty of it – this will definitely allow you to stand out from the crowd not only with your instrument, but also with your repertoire. Which, by the way, is quite a significant plus for schoolchildren or students who are not yet working – if a persistent dad does not want to invest capital in a new hobby – promise him to learn how to play his beloved Butusov, or Tsoi, or Vysotsky, or Okudzhava (underline as appropriate) for sure, it will be heard.

The relative compactness of the instrument – if the guy next door cannot take his entire DJ console on a date with a girl, a representative of our cohort has a huge advantage here. The guitar is quite compact, so it can accompany the owner almost everywhere – with the exception of rare cases.

Playing the guitar has a beneficial effect on memory and concentration – by memorizing the melody of a song, as well as chord combinations, a person does not even suspect that it has significant benefits for the development of his cognitive and muscle memory. Computer games, of course, also develop some things, let’s say a reaction… But at the same time they cause significant harm to health.

The opportunity to learn how to play your favorite compositions is perhaps one of the most powerful advantages, forcing many to touch the guitar at least once, and perhaps not only touch it, but actually comprehend, if not the wisdom, then at least the basics (those who can Guitar players agree with luminaries that the notorious 3-4 chords are quite enough to perform quite a large number of excellent songs). By the way, having learned at least one composition, a beginning musician is faced with another phenomenon: the inability to play and sing at the same time, which will also have to be learned over time – it is not always possible to find a company with a separate soloist.

The right to be called a musician – yes, yes, even after the first simplest Am, Dm, Em there are already some reasons to consider oneself among the huge and wonderful world of music (as an option, rock music), and therefore to express one’s “authoritative” point of view on websites and forums. By the way, on these same forums you can find like-minded people and spend more time with them in reality, and not behind a monitor.

Go for it! And who knows? Maybe years from now you will be counted among Nightwish, Motörhead and Iron Maiden. Everything is possible…

p.s. Gaining popularity with the opposite sex is more of a myth than an advantage – the ability to play the guitar does not always guarantee success with girls. So, if you decide to master this noble instrument, do it for yourself, and not with the goal of becoming an object of adoration.
