Nonaccord |
Nonaccord – a chord of five dissimilar sounds, which, with a tertian arrangement, fill the volume of a nona (hence the name). There are large N., within the large none, and small N., within the small none. The most commonly used N. on the fifth degree of the fret is the dominant non-chord; denoted: V9 or D9. Since H. is less common on other steps, the dominant non-chord is simply called N. major and minor – small. For example, in C major:
H. Ch. arr. in the main form. This is due to the fact that N. includes two triads decomp. harmonic functions: dominant triad and subdominant triad of the II degree; so to save the func. it is expedient to give the predominance of dominant harmony in the bass voice of the main. sound N. Appeals N. independent. do not have names. See Accord.
