Nikita Mndoyants
Nikita Mndoyants was born in 1989 in Moscow into a family of musicians. He was educated as a pianist and composer at the Central Music School at the Moscow Conservatory, the Moscow Conservatory and postgraduate studies, where his teachers were T. L. Koloss, Professors A. A. Mndoyants and N. A. Petrov (piano), T. A. Chudova and A. V. Tchaikovsky (composition). During his studies, he successfully performed at the international competitions of pianists named after I. Ya.
In 2016, Nikita Mndoyants won the prestigious International Piano Competition in Cleveland (USA).
In 2012, at the age of 23, N. Mndoyants became a member of the Union of Composers of Russia. In 2014 he was awarded the First Prize at the N. Myaskovsky International Competition for Young Composers, in 2016 – in memory of S. Prokofiev in Sochi. He is one of the heroes of the documentary films “Russian geeks” (2000) and “Competitors” (2009), filmed by the German company Lichtfilm (director – I. Langeman).
Being a scholarship holder of many charitable foundations, Nikita Mndoyants started performing early in Russia and abroad. His concerts were held in Moscow and St. Petersburg, cities in Russia, many countries in Europe, Asia and the USA, on the stages of prestigious halls, including the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, the Great Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theater , the Louvre and the Salle Cortot in Paris, the Fine Arts Center in Brussels and Carnegie Hall in New York.
The musician played with leading orchestras, including the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia named after E.F. Svetlanov, the Honored Ensemble of Russia, the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the Symphony Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater and the Cleveland Orchestra. Has performed under the baton of conductors Charles Duthoit, Leonard Slatkin, Eri Klas, Vladimir Ziva, Alexander Rudin, Alexander Sladkovsky, Konstantin Orbelian, Fyodor Glushchenko, Misha Rakhlevsky, Tadeusz Woitsekhovsky, Charles Ansbacher, Murad Annamamedov, Ignat Solzhenitsyn, Valentin Uryupin and others. He took part in international festivals in Russia, Poland, Germany, USA. Since 2012, Nikita Mndoyants has been a pianist and composer in residence at the International Music Festival in Wissembourg (France).
Among his partners in the chamber ensemble are famous musicians – Alexander Gindin, Mikhail Utkin, Valery Sokolov, Vyacheslav Gryaznov, Patrick Messina, quartets named after Borodin, Brentano, Ebene, Atrium, named after Zemlinsky and named after Shimanovsky.
The music of Nikita Mndoyants is performed by many famous artists and groups, including Daniel Hope, Ilya Gringolts, Nikita Borisoglebsky, Alexander Rudin, Alexander Vinnitsky, Evgeny Tonkha, Maria Vlasova, Tatyana Vasilyeva, Igor Fedorov, Anatoly Levin, Igor Dronov, Sergey Kondrashev, Ilya Gaisin, ensemble of soloists “Studio for New Music”, quartets named after Shimanovsky, named after Zemlinsky and Cantando, orchestras of Musica Viva, Moscow Philharmonic and Radio “Orpheus”. His compositions have been published by the Composer, Jurgenson and Muzyka publishing houses.
In 2007, Classical records released two discs by Nikita Mndoyants, one of which included his music. In 2015, Praga digitals released a disc with a recording of the M. Weinberg Quintet performed by Nikita Mndoyants and the Zemlinsky Quartet. In June 2017, the pianist’s solo disc was released, recorded by Steinway & Sons.
Nikita Mndoyants was awarded the Honorary Diploma of the Boris Tchaikovsky Society for his great contribution to the popularization of the works of this composer. Since 2013 he has been teaching at the Moscow Conservatory at the Department of Instrumentation.
