Marius Constant
Born February 7, 1925 in Bucharest. French composer and conductor. He studied at the Paris Conservatory with T. Obien and O. Messiaen. Since 1957 he has been musical director of R. Petit’s Ballet de Paris troupe, since 1977 he has been a conductor of the Paris Opera.
He is the author of symphonic and instrumental compositions, as well as ballets: “High Voltage” (together with P. Henri), “Flute Player”, “Fear” (all – 1956), “Counterpoint” (1958), “Cyrano de Bergerac” (1959 ), “Song of the Violin” (on the themes of Paganini, 1962), “Praise of Stupidity” (1966), “24 Preludes” (1967), “Forms” (1967), “Paradise Lost” (1967), “Septantrion” (1975 ), “Nana” (1976).
All of Constant’s ballets were staged by the Ballet de Paris troupe (choreographer R. Petit).
