She made her debut in 1933 (Turin as Lauretta in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi). In the same year she performed for the first time at La Scala.
She sang on various Italian stages (parts of Adriana Lecouvreur in the opera of the same name by Cilea, Violetta, Liu, etc.). She performed at the Florentine Musical May and Arena di Verona festivals, and in 1952 she sang the part of Mimi in London. In 1963 she performed the part of Adriana Lecouvreur at the Edinburgh Festival. In 1967 she made her debut in the USA (Dallas, the title role in Cherubini’s Medea). She sang at the Metropolitan Opera (1975, part of Tosca).
One of the best performers of veristic roles (the title parts in Giordano’s Fedora, Mascagni’s Iris, etc.).
