Alexandrina Pendachanska was born in Sofia in a family of musicians. Her grandfather was a violinist and conductor of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, her mother, Valeria Popova, is a famous singer who performed in Milan’s La Scala theater in the mid-80s. She taught Alexandrina vocals at the Bulgarian National School of Music, from which she also graduated as a pianist.

Alexandrina Pendachanska made her first operatic debut at the age of 17, performing Violetta in Verdi’s La Traviata. Soon after that, she became a laureate of the A. Dvořák vocal competition in Karlovy Vary (Czech Republic), the International Vocal Competition in Bilbao (Spain) and UNISA in Pretoria (South Africa).

Since 1989, Alexandrina Pendachanska has been performing in the best concert halls and opera houses of the world: the Berlin, Hamburg, Vienna and Bavarian State Operas, the San Carlo Theater in Naples, G. Verdi in Trieste, the Teatro Regio in Turin, La Monna in Brussels, Theater on the Champs Elysees in Paris, the Washington and Houston operas, the theaters of Santa Fe and Monte Carlo, Lausanne and Lyon, Prague and Lisbon, New York and Toronto … She participates in famous festivals: in Bregenz, Innsbruck, G. Rossini in Pesaro and others.

Between 1997 and 2001 the singer performed roles in operas: Meyerbeer’s Robert the Devil, Rossini’s Hermione and Journey to Reims, Donizetti’s Love Potion, Bellini’s Outlander, Puccini’s Sister Angelica, Louise Miller and Two from Foscari Verdi, and also embodied Mozart’s heroines on stage – Donna Anna and Donna Elvira in the opera Don Giovanni, Aspasia in the opera Mithridates, King of Pontus and Vitelia in The Mercy of Titus.

Her other recent works include performances in opera productions of Handel’s Julius Caesar, Vivaldi’s The Faithful Nymph, Haydn’s Roland Paladin, Gassmann’s Opera Series, Rossini’s The Turk in Italy and Rossini’s The Lady of the Lake. , Idomeneo by Mozart.

Her concert repertoire includes solo parts in Verdi’s Requiem, Rossini’s Stabat Mater, Honegger’s “King David” oratorio, which she performs with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra, the Italian orchestras RAI, the Soloists of Venice, the Florentine Musical May and the orchestras of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, the Vienna Symphony, etc. She collaborates with such famous conductors as Myung-Wun Chung, Charles Duthoit, Riccardo Schailly, Rene Jacobs, Maurizio Benini, Bruno Campanella, Evelyn Pidot, Vladimir Spivakov…

The singer’s extensive discography includes recordings of compositions: Glinka’s Life for the Tsar (Sony), Rachmaninov’s Bells (Decca), Donizetti’s Parisina (Dynamics), Handel’s Julius Caesar (ORF), Titus’ Mercy, Idomeneo , “Don Giovanni” by Mozart (Harmonia Mundi), etc.
