She has performed on the opera stage since 1947. Since 1952, she sang Mozart parts on the stage of the Sadler’s Wells (Constanza in The Abduction from the Seraglio, Donna Anna). She performed a number of parts in the world premieres of Britten’s operas (Penelope Rich in Gloriana, 1953; The Governess in The Turn of the Screw, 1954; Titania in op. A Midsummer Night’s Dream, 1960). She successfully performed the role of Elektra in Mozart’s Idomeneo (Glyndebourne Festival, 1953). She sang in a number of Australian operas. M. Williamson (b. 1931). From 1953 she performed at Covent Garden. Toured in the USSR (1956).
