Debut 1961 (Bern, Marina part). In the future, she became famous for the performance of Wagner parts. Since 1965 at the Bayreuth Festival (Elizabeth in Tannhäuser, Eva in The Nuremberg Mastersingers, Gutruna in The Death of the Gods, etc.), from the same year at the Salzburg Festival she sang Brunhildu’s “Ring of the Nibelung”, Isolde (since 1969 she performed frequently along with Karajan). Since 1970 she sang with great success in Covent Garden (the parts of Sieglinde in The Valkyrie, Marshals in The Rosenkavalier, Chrysothemis in Elektra). She performed in San Francisco from 1982-85. Since 1979 she also sang the mezzo-soprano repertoire (Frikka in Valkyrie, Adelaide in Arabella by R. Strauss, etc.). In 1985, she made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera (the part of Martha in Khovanshchina). Among the performances of recent years is the part of the Countess (1996, Bern). Among the recordings, we note the part of Brünnhilde in Der Ring des Nibelungen (dir. Karajan, Deutsche Grammophon) and others.
